A shoe with stones
The journey of the body and the transformation of the structure with all its implications fascinate me. I have always had a close connection with clothing and fashion that related to intimate relationships and organic materiality. My interest around the border between the garment and the wearer, between the living and the stillness as well as the organic and inorganic.
It is an attempt to say something about the skin we live in and about time and its transformations, an elusive attempt to define it.
That gap between the organic, animal essence and their dead state, pertains to broader human questions about the place of death in our relationships and our lives. A shoe is a trivial item, a second skin that breaks apart and simultaneously comes alive and interacts symbiosis with the environment. The materials, in this case biological tissue, undergo a surgical and chemical manipulation process when they come to life and evoke associations to an organic body that displays signs of sexuality and sensuality.
